One of my fav local breweries is puttin out a seasonal concoction today. Well, you gotta attend the bottle release party tonight if you wanna get your hands on it. Its happening at Beer Revolution in Oakland (right on my way home....) but its at 6pm. Otherwise, you'll have to wait til it hits the stores. Even then, your lucky if your local store gets it. This brew sounds great so I've gotta pick up a few bottles. And at 9.3% alc., its not for the rookies.

The homie Set from SIX2SIX Records has been puttin me up on some DOPE music via www.six2sixrecords.bandcamp.com and www.thesix2sixshift.blogspot.com. I suggest you peep it out asap. Its that raw material that we all love. Here's a video so you can get a sample of what they're serving. Dope!
After a nice 3 day weekend with the fam, with no internet access besides my crappy iphone, its nice to finally get back to work. Speaking of work. I dropped the first single from our upcoming project, Jayo Beez this past Friday. I'm gonna make it simple. CASH DREED & E.C are JAYO BEEZ. Even though we've been gettin busy musically together for the past ? years, we thought we do something more official under a group name. Bam. Just like that. Now you know.
This track here is on that raw, grimey sheeyit. I got my homie from Oakland, Word4Word to drop a verse as well. Well done homie.
Beez on the lookout for the album coming soon! Production by Monsrock and E.C, so you know what to expect.
If your a fan of Classic Rock then you gotta be a fan of The Doors. I could probably write for a solid 30 minutes of why I'm a fan of their music but I dont think I should. Just peep the music. And not just the radio hits. They got some tracks that you wouldn't believe.
As far as this clip, I seen the documentary last year the day it was released in only a few select theater's. All unreleased rare footage narrated by Johnny Depp. VERY DOPE.
Props to my dude Drasar Monumental out there in Vietnam Ca. Drasar says it best on the Battlefield Funk radio show "put on our combat boots and your space helmets" no joke. Drasar lets off 13 rounds of bass heavy gutter tracks riddled with various death threats from some of the filthiest ever in hiphop- Mobb Deep. 2011 cant sleep. Time to Get Biz.
Woke up to this in my inbox.
A re-creation of the SV classic "Fall In Love" by my mans from Cash Dreed, Rob C aka EL Rob and the homie from the Addict Merchants/Elephant Gun, Fresh.co.
Enjoy.
A day late but its definitely worth it.

"It's been 5 years since my man Dilla has passed away due to complications from Lupus (he passed away Feb 10, 2006....3 days after his birthday and the release of his official final album, Donuts). I released this mix 3 years ago....Since it's Dilla's birthday today (Feb. 7....he would've been 37 today), I figured I share this mix with everyone again even though it's been out before......Below is the description of the mix from my Myspace blog (i know...who still uses Myspace?!). Peep it out and enjoy......Happy Birthday Dilla....i miss you bro."

A couple months ago I picked up a new laptop and the first thing I HAD to have was Reason 5. I've been a fan of Reason since it first came out. It does way more than heads know. Its also intimidating to a lot of beatmakers. The best thing about version 5 is the ability to sample on the go. Once you get your samples you can pretty much do whatever you want with them. Tons of effects, ways to route your sounds and editing features that are way beyond what the MPC does. Not that I'm hanging up my Mpc. Never. But its always good to have other resources.
Heres a Reason beat I did sampling some Billy Stewart. My biggest challenge right now is getting the right mix and learning the mastering tools in Reason. I'll get there soon.
"J.Dilla: Still Shining" from B.Kyle on Vimeo.
"Created in 2006, this remembrance piece is created as a tribute to the memory and legacy of James "J.Dilla" Yancey. This is a piece designed for his fans and supporters who knew of his accomplishments before February 2006 and those that have grown to appreciate his genius. Here, we gain a greater insight and understanding about our musical icon."
Dope.
How you gonna mention J-Dilla and not mention Champion Sound? His collabo album with Madlib was probably one of the dopest albums to hit my audio box. Beats and lyrics by both on each others beats was how this one went down. I read the article in Scratch (I think) on how these two first met up. Dope! I suggest you look into your stack of (now deceased) Scratch and check it out. As for this track, it was actually sampled for a Slum Village song years before this, by J-Dilla. You should know what song it was. But when I first heard this shit!!!!! Damn! I couldn't stop bumpin it. LOUD!
Another favorite beat from J Dilla. Here, Termanology goes in spittin 100 crazy bars over a beat that I'm certain Dilla woulda gave him, had he heard this.
After reading mixed views on this video via Youtube.com, I figured I'd give my own thoughts. Most people were upset because of the quality- I agree. Then again, the footage of Dilla obviously wasn't shot in HD so the video dude in charge cant do much about it. Maybe I'm wrong. Aside from that, I know what heads are talking about. Even the interview footage looks cheap. So I do agree on putting out some high quality shit out for Dilla and his fam, especially when its so easily accessible. But who knows the whole story behind it. In the end I'm just glad to see some new Dilla footage- and I'm sure everybody is.
If you haven't heard- its Dilla month. You know what time it is.
Think Twice is one of my fav Dilla beats, as he recreates the Donald Byrd song . I'm not sure when Dilla started using live instrumentation but its very apparent here. Then he added Dwele to the track. Perfect.
